AMHOCN Training and Service Development has developed a range of training resources to support services in providing training in the the collection and use of the NOCC measures.
Online Training
AMHOCN has an online training site for individuals who wish to undertake self directed training in the measures that comprise that National Outcomes and Casemix Collection (NOCC), including the Health of the Nation Outcome Scales suite of measures (HoNOSCA, HoNOS, HoNOS65+), Life Skills Profile (LSP 16), consumer rated measures (K-10+, BASIS 32, MHI 38) and Phase of Care.
Basic Measures Training
AMHOCN has developed Basic Training resources that introduce people to the background to the National Outcomes and Casemix Collection (NOCC), what measures are collected, when they are collected and how they are rated. These training resources are specific for each service age population - child and adolescent, adult and older persons.
Rater and Clinical Utility Training
AMHOCN has developed Rater and Clinical Utility Training resources that highlight how outcome measures can be used in clinical practice. These resources are specific for each service age band - child and adolescent, adult and older persons.
Sharing Perspectives: Collaborative Use of Outcome Measures in Clinical Practice
The Sharing Perspectives resources aim to support training that explores the use of the outcome measures to develop a collaborative relationship between the clinician and the consumer, support the identification of goals and monitor change over time. These resources are specific for each service age band - child and adolescent, adult and older persons.
Also available are:
- resources that focuses on Using the Consumer Self Assessment Measures in Practice. A training manual and associated PowerPoint slides have been developed to provide a basic introduction to offering the consumer self assessment measure and engaging the consumer about change and goal setting; and
- resources that focus on using the Clinician Rated Measures in Care Planning and Shared Decision Making. A training manual and associated PowerPoint slides aim to support the development of processes that improve clinical practice in care planning and ensure that consumers are part of the delivery of their care.
Team Reviews and Case Presentation Training
Using the NOCC in Team Review and Case Presentation training resources highlight how outcome measures can be used in regular team reviews - key areas of focus for team discussions, using the consumer self report information, and using the measures in the development of a care plan. These resources are specific for each service age band - child and adolescent, adult and older persons.
Training Vignettes
Written and video vignettes are available for use in training in the measures of the National Outcomes and Casemix Collection (NOCC). These resources are specific for each service age band - child and adolescent, adult and older persons. Vignettes are also available to support rating Phase of Care in consultation liaison psychiatry and to provide guidance in rating the HoNOS for those with eating disorders.

Preparing, Sharing, Comparing: A Training Framework for the National Outcomes and Casemix Collection
The NOCC National Training Framework describes an ideal set of training activities in the measures that comprise the National Outcomes and Casemix Collection (NOCC), aiming to support and sustain the national use of routine outcome measurement into the future.
